Product Description
The Atlas GPS combines the technology and performance you want with the navigational functionality you need. Thanks to the unit's easy-to-use mapping functions, every major city, highway, river, and lake in North America are accessible via the 1.7-by-2.2-inch grayscale display (with 160 x 120 resolution). Add in a remarkably intuitive interface--which includes both "easy" and "advance" operating modes and an easy-scroll cursor--and you have an ideal GPS unit for everything from geocaching to exploring an unfamiliar city.
The 12-parallel-channel, WAAS-enabled navigator comes with a built-in background road map of the continental U.S. and Hawaii, but is also expandable via optional Info, World, and Topo MultiMediaCards or MapCreate, MapCreate Topo, and Navionics mapping services. Once the maps have been uploaded onto the Atlas, you'll be able to create 1,000 waypoints, 1,000 event markers, 10 reversible routes, and 100 savable and retraceable plot trails, with up to 10,000 points per trail. It's also easy to save your data thanks to the internal backup memory and the expandable Secure Digital (SD)/MultiMediaCard (MMC) slot.
The Atlas also has the ability to recall the addresses and phone numbers of your favorite restaurants and points of interest, not to mention every back road on the map. All this in a thin, easy-to-handle body that measures a mere 2.5 by 5.6 by 0.9 inches (W x H x D). Additional features include 40 map zoom ranges (from 0.02 to 4,000 miles) and an antenna port for connecting an optional external antenna.
The Atlas, which weighs a mere 4.9 ounces, runs for up to 16 hours on a pair of AA batteries. It's also backed by a two-year warranty.
